This week we were totally shocked by Rachel’s weight loss story. Lots of clients come to us hoping to share their weight loss secrets with the world – whether it’s through surgery, popular diet plans, or sheer willpower. We love seeing people’s fantastic before and after transformation pictures. But Rachel’s story caught our attention for all the wrong reasons, and we were only too happy to help her raise awareness of what can happen when weight loss goes wrong.

BYPASS HELL! I LOST 15st – AND MY WEDDING MEMORIES

When Rachel, 28, tipped the scales at a whopping 24 stone she underwent a gastric bypass procedure – but the op was botched. In a critical condition, Rachel was induced into a coma. But when she came round 11 days later, she didn’t recognise anyone around her. Even now, five years on and a slinky 9st 5lb, Rachel’s health problems are continuing. She received £35,000 in compensation, but that will never bring back her lost memories of her wedding day. We helped Rachel to sell her story to Closer magazine.

Bridget’s story in Love It

In November 2004, new dad Stuart, 19, was brutally murdered because his killers were jealous of his beautiful partner, Jolene, 16. Jolene and her mum, Bridget, were left to raise the baby – but Jolene couldn’t get over Stuart’s murder and sank into a deep depression. In 2009 Jolene was found dead after an overdose – a suspected suicide. Devastated Bridget, 50, has now adopted her grandchildren, and told her tragic story in Love It! magazine.
