Today we’ve got two stories in two great women’s magazines – Woman and Woman’s Own. They actually make an interesting contrast – showing the positive and negative sides of using social media. Nicola was left in therapy when her Facebook addiction spiralled out of control, but Sue logged on to YouTube and found a new husband! Click on the pictures below to read the full story.
FACEBOOK LEFT ME A PSYCHO!
Stuck in a stale relationship, mum-of-two Nicola joined Facebook and quickly became addicted. She added a former colleague, Anthony, as a friend and soon grew convinced he had feelings for her – despite not having seen him for years. She scoured his page for hours at a time and sent him irrational messages, eventually leading to her getting psychiatric help. Nicola told her story to Woman magazine and has also written a book about her experiences.
I LEFT MY HUBBY – FOR YOUTUBE LOVER
Middle-aged mum-of-two Sue, 53, was browsing YouTube when she came across a video by Charles, a mysterious Maltese author. The pair began exchanging racy messages online and in March last year, Sue left her husband of 28 years for her YouTube lover. Two months later, Sue met Charles in the flesh for the first time – now the couple plan to move to Malta together permanently. She told her story in Woman’s Own magazine.
