We’ve had another great week at Sell My Story, with seven stories in the magazines today. We’ll be telling you all about five of them here, then another two have been featured in their own blog posts here and here. This week’s topics include weight loss, babies, weddings, and domestic violence, so there’s plenty to keep you interested!
RACE FOR A BABY – BEFORE MY MAN’S SEX CHANGE
Avril, 23, longed for a baby, but as a lesbian accepted she may never have a family. But then she met Zarah – a pre-op transsexual. With just months before Zarah’s female hormone treatment left her infertile, the couple faced a race against time to fall pregnant naturally. Thankfully, it worked and Avril conceived. She gave birth to Silas in May – just in time, because Zarah is now infertile. The couple shared their unusual story in That’s Life magazine.

I’M MARRYING TWILIGHT HEART-THROB ED
After a string of unsuccessful dates, Twilight fan Lauren, 24, realised movies had given her unrealistic expectations of romance and men. To highlight the issue she began to date her dream man – a life-size cardboard cut-out of vampire heartthrob, Edward Cullen! Last month she proposed to Ed and is planning their wedding for January. She will even jet off on honeymoon with her cardboard man. She sold her story to Love It! magazine.
BRIDE REVEALS BIRTHMARK BODY
Louise, 36, was born with a severe port-wine birthmark and after years of bullying she suffered low self-esteem. She covered up her birthmarks in clothes and make-up – until she met Michael, who rebuilt her confidence – and then proposed. Louise decided that for once she wasn’t going to hide and chose a strapless wedding dress, baring her birthmark body for the first time. She told her inspiring story in Pick Me Up magazine.
HELD MY DAUGHTER’S FUNERAL, INSTEAD OF HER WEDDING
Jean’s daughter, Katie, 25, was a fit and healthy bride-to-be, excitedly looking forward to her wedding booked for January 2011. But just weeks before her big day she developed a cold. Quickly, Katie deteriorated – and she died of pneumonia within weeks. Jean, 52, tells how, in a cruel twist of fate, Katie passed away the day before what should have been her wedding.
