MY JEALOUS SISTER COPIED MY WEIGHT LOSS

It’s true that you can’t chose your family, so when things go wrong we have no choice but to confront problems and deal with them. This week we’ve got two very different stories about family relationships at breaking point. At Sell My Story we often hear of feuds stemming from jealousy, rage and betrayal. But both of our clients here chose to speak out to show that by calmly talking things through, issues can be resolved.

JEALOUS SISTER HAD SURGERY – TO GET MY BODY

At 27st and with a BMI of 70, doctors warned Dawn, 45, she’d die if she didn’t lose weight. So in 2008 she had a gastric band. But at 21st herself, Debbie, 42, became jealous of her big sister’s new look – and booked a gastric band too. The battle of the bulge was on. As they explain Take A Break this week, the competitive sisters raced each other, desperate to be the thinnest. Now, both at 12 stone, they say their rivalry saved their lives.

SINGLE AND PREGNANT – LIKE MY TEEN

Elaine, 42,  was devastated when her 16-year-old daughter, Tracey, fell pregnant. But then, five months later Elaine fell pregnant too. Tracey had Lexy in June 2011, and Elaine had Demi six months later, meaning her granddaughter is older than her daughter! Elaine loves being an older mum and is even glad Tracey got pregnant at 16 – as without her, she would have had a termination. They told their story in Love It!

BABYSITTER’S HELL! FRAMED FOR ABUSE

Katie, 26, thought she was being a Good Samaritan when she offered to babysit her friend Stephanie’s baby son, so the young mum could rest. But in April 2011 doctors discovered the little boy had been abused for several months – and to Katie’s horror, Stephanie, 20, blamed her. This week Katie told Pick Me Up how it took her eight months to clear her name. Finally, Stephanie admitted she had hurt her son and was jailed for 14 months.

BARKING MAD! I READ PET HOROSCOPES
Fiona, 54, inherited her interest in star signs from her mum Alice, but it was only in 2006 that she began to take the hobby seriously. Instead of doing readings for humans, Fiona decided to specialise… in star signs for pets! Despite her family thinking she’s barking mad, Fiona has done charts for over 100 dogs and cats, donating her fees to animal charities. She revealed her bonkers business in Chat this week – she’s also appeared in the Sun.
